LONDON, UK – June 5, 2018 – Element engaged expert, Neal Ferguson, is helping to shape new oil & gas industry standards through his role as the Vice Chair of the American Petroleum Institute (API) subcommittee on Supply Chain Management (SC20). The committee recently published API standard 20L - the first of its kind supply chain qualification standard for polymeric seal manufacturers.
Neal led the collaboration between 70 leading partners from across the industry, including key organizations such as Shell, BP, BHGE, Schlumberger and TechnipFMC, to produce a set of standards that specify the requirements for the qualification of manufacturers of polymeric seals used in the petroleum and natural gas industries. The document outlines the quality requirements and protocols, which include testing and inspection requirements, for polymeric seals including thermoplastics and thermosets.
As Vice-Chair of the API subcommittee on Supply Chain Management (SC20), Neal supports the development and maintenance of standards on supply chain management for critical materials and processes used in oil and natural gas exploration and production in the US, including castings, forgings, welding services and non-destructive examination amongst many others.
Rod Martin, EVP, Oil & Gas, commented: ‘’It is through the active engagement of our experts in the development of standards and accreditations that help us stay at the forefront of the testing processes and requirements in the oil & gas industry. Neal in particular has played a key role in driving through the latest development of this standards project, demonstrating not only his considerable technical expertise, but also his ability to bring together multiple industry partners to drive the creation of this critically important document.’’
Neal Ferguson, Business Development Director, added: ‘’With the creation and embedding of this referenced API document, we ensure the continued high standards of quality and service in polymeric seals across our industry. I would like to thank all of the individuals and companies that gave their time and supported the creation of this publication. It was truly a team effort.’’
