LONDON, UK – November 28, 2022 – Element Materials Technology (Element), a leading global Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) company, has been awarded a three-year extension to its contract with Scotland’s principal environmental regulator, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).
Work undertaken by Element’s stack emissions experts will support an audit program of emissions monitoring to measure the concentrations of pollutants emitted at industrial sites throughout Scotland. This work is covered by regulations including the Environmental Protection Act 1990, the Pollution and Control (Scotland) Regulations 2012 and the Waste Management Licensing Regulations 2011.
Element secured class-leading scores during the tender process for its solutions-led approach, guided by safety, quality and innovation. Testing is delivered by teams working from multiple Element sites, including its Center of Technical Excellence in Newcastle, which holds practice for EN 14181 QAL2 & ASTs; a workshop in Stockport that provides calibration, repair and performance checks for sampling equipment; and laboratories in Stockport and Deeside that perform testing on dust, acid gases, metals, mercury, dioxins and furans, PCBs and more.
Matt Sumner, Element’s Business Development Director for Safety & Environmental Compliance, said: “As environmental regulation and reporting increases in importance for organizations globally, our trusted experts have the industry knowledge to ensure sustainability and the highest standards of environmental management are core to operations.
“Our longstanding partnership with SEPA is testament to the consistent delivery of quality testing from our teams and we are proud to have received the highest scores for quality for this bid, confirming our best-in-industry status and showing that not all MCERTS organizations are the same.”
Duncan Stewart, SEPA’s Senior Specialist Scientist, added: “We are delighted to award Element one of three SEPA contracts for Stack Emissions Monitoring at Industrial Sites across Scotland.
“Element has performed professionally throughout our partnership, balancing communication with sites and SEPA to ensure a successful delivery of work, which has been delivered to a very high standard. I look forward to working together again over the duration of our new contract.”
