The National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) is a standard established in 1943 for the corrosion control industry to protect people, assets and the environment from the adverse effects of corrosion.
NACE is recognized as a primary source for the publication of standards relating to sour service (H2S) corrosion for the Oil and Gas industry.
NACE standard testing
Element is the leading provider for NACE standard sour service testing to the Oil and Gas sector. We conduct Sulfide Stress Cracking (SSC) and Stress Corrosion Cracking testing to the requirements of NACE TM0177 and Hydrogen Induced Cracking (HIC) testing to the requirements of NACE TM0284. In addition Slow Strain Rate Tests can be undertaken at elevated pressure and temperature in accordance with NACE TM0198.
The NACE testing is generally undertaken in order to meet the requirements of NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156, for application in environments containing wet H2S in oil and gas production systems and NACE MR0103 for applications in petroleum refining environments.
