Frequently Asked Questions
What types of automotive glass testing does Element provide?
Element tests glazing materials against requirements of ANSI Z26.1, FMVSS 205, and ECE R43. Our tests include abrasion resistance, bake tests, chemical resistance, deviation and distortion, egress tests, flammability, flexibility, fracture, humidity, impact, light stability, luminous transmittance, penetration resistance, temperature change, and weathering.
How does stone chip resistance testing work?
A gravelometer uses compressed air to propel gravel, sand, or other debris at a vehicle component. After testing, the component's surface is wiped down and any loose fragments of coating are gently removed with tape. The surface is thencompared to standard transparencies provided by SAE to deliver an objective chipping rating. Testing can be conducted under different environmental conditions to simulate real-world scenarios.
What OEM standards does Element test to for automotive trim?
Element tests to many OEM standards including GM, Ford, FCA (Chrysler), Audi, BMW, Daewoo, Daimler-Benz, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Suzuki, Tesla, Toyota, Volvo, and Volkswagen, as well as Tier 1 suppliers like BorgWarner, Faurecia, Magna International, and Robert Bosch.
What automotive hose testing capabilities does Element offer?
Element tests all forms of automotive hoses including braking, coolant, fuel, hydraulic, pressure, water, and pneumatic systems. Our capabilities include high flow & low flow testing, varying temperatures, liquid to liquid thermo-shock testing, pressure proof & burst testing up to 50,000 psi, pressure pulse testing, and helium & refrigerant leak testing.
