Andy Barron is an internationally recognized specialist in fatigue and fracture mechanics for the global Oil & Gas sector.
Andy is a highly respected and internationally recognised technical specialist with over 30 years experience in the fields of mechanical testing, fatigue, fracture mechanics and structural integrity.
His role at Element is to be the lead technical specialist in the development of our emerging Engineering Critical Assessment (ECA) services that will be used to test the structural integrity and Fitness For Service for our Oil and Gas clients’ pipeline installation s throughout the world.

During his career Andy has been involved in the development of a number of global industry standards, for the Oil and Gas sector.

Memberships
- Currently an active member of the British Standards committee ISE/NFE/4/4 for fracture toughness testing
- Responsible for the BS7448 series of standards
- Working on BS8571 for SENT geometry fracture toughness testing.
