The Laboratory was established in 2003 following the acquisition of Carillion (Tarmac / Wimpey). It is a multi-disciplined laboratory that offers materials testing services to the construction and oil and gas sectors from its state-of-the-art location in the Dubai Investments Park.

Our Local team is supported by highly qualified & experienced regional specialists available to resolve any analytical issues related to the testing or results. We regularly participate in internationally recognized proficiency testing schemes & ICQ with certified quantified CRMs to ensure the testing remains valid and fit for purpose. 

Capabilities and services 

The range of services offered includes;

• Construction materials
• Metallurgy - metals, weldments, reinforcing steel bars
• Analytical chemistry - sampling and chemical analysis of waters (potable, saline, waste (untreated and treated domestic, and industrial), saline, leachates (raw, effluent, and groundwater, and recreational) and soils by ICP-MS, ICP-OES, GC-MS, GC-FID, and IC techniques
• Microbiology - legionella risk assessment, quantitative and qualitative analysis of waters, food, and swab by colony count,  MPN, Idexx Enterolert, cultural, 3M petrifilm, and presence/absence techniques
• Special products testing for the construction sectors 
• Environmental monitoring and testing service

The laboratory has established itself as the regional center of excellence for analytical chemistry, including the determination of contaminants in waters and soils/marine sediments using a wide range of organic and inorganic instrumentation, including:

• Inductively Coupled Plasma - Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES)
• Spark OES
• Gas Chromatography Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS)
• Ion Chromatography (IC)
• Skalar BluVision Discrete Analyser 
• Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Analyser
• HACH Spectrophotometer 

These instruments are capable of analysis down to parts per billion detection levels with the results typically being used by clients such as environmental consultants to compare levels against national/international standards for drinking water, ambient seawater, and contaminated land.
